Calling the airline directly? Something like travelocity, orbitz, etc.? Travel agency (guessing not). I’ve heard something about airfare consolidators… don’t know a thing about that.

I will be buying a last minute ticket on Thr, Fri, Sat, Sun… whenever I get to the States…

If I fly home on weekends off from a temp work location away from my tax home, can I deduct the airfare? Do I need to limit the deductions to the amount I would have spent on meals and lodging if I had stayed at the temp site? I get conflicting answers to this question.

Do you have any hints/tips/tricks for finding the low airfare?? Is it better to purchase way in advance, or right before you want to go?? Is it better to go in the “off season” or really not worth the price break?? Looking for any tips anyone has!! Thanks!!

Hyopthetical question, though I may have to remove someone who can’t make it on a trip.

We have some frequent flier miles and we want to combine those with tickets we purchase. We’re flying during school vacation in the spring, so the tickets are expensive. We want to fly together as a family.

For example, if I want to travel in August and am very flexible about destination but am concerned about cost. So, I want to find out the cheapest places to fly to from my home airport. I want a comprehensive list of destinations.

My fiance and I are looking at airfare for our honeymoon, right now. It’s a few months early, but people generally advise booking stuff about six months in advance. The prices, however, seem to have taken quite a leap lately, versus the last time we checked, back in November. Fiance had just booked the reservations for our cruise and didn’t want to put too much on his credit card that month, and December wasn’t an option because of holiday shopping and expenses.

We were wondering if the large change in price had something to do with the current month (January), since people have been traveling in and out of town, due to holidays, and if the prices might go down later. It just seems logical that the prices should go down again *sometime* before June.

So, what are the best and/or worst months to buy decently priced airplane tickets?
